Dean S. Burns is Senior Vice President for Gundaker Commercial Group. With more than 40 years in the St. Louis Commercial Real Estate Industry, Dean possesses a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in retail, office, multi-family and industrial development and commercial brokerage. Dean’s clients include individual investors, corporate users, family businesses, financial institutions, cultural institutions, commercial developers, multi-family builders and home builders.
Dean began his career as a City Planner for the City of St. Louis, undertaking real estate development and redevelopment from a public policy perspective. He designed and implemented programs for community revitalization, housing rehabilitation and public infrastructure. Dean then transitioned to the private sector, as President and CEO of Westminster-St. Louis, Inc., a real estate development, construction and property management firm specializing in neighborhood redevelopment and property rehabilitation. Westminster’s successes in St. Louis spanned over a decade. Dean worked in economic and community development for University City, MO and the St. Louis County Economic Council. Prior to joining Gundaker Commercial Group, Dean was a development project manager for THF Realty, a large regional retail developer based in St. Louis. His career path has allowed him to combine his public and private sector experiences to develop an expertise in a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions.
Dean holds a BA from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from Southern Illinois University and an MBA in Finance from Washington University. Throughout his career, Dean has been active in professional, civic and community organizations.
